Look What We Did Together!!
The final numbers are in - and what an amazing launch to the $1M community fundraising project for the new Wellness Centre.
Together, through the Jump In The Lake Challenge, our communities have raised $53,337.69!!
Congrats to these Top 3 Fundraising Teams, and Top 3 Individuals (we will be in touch with a little extra recognition for you):
The Point Plungers, Shadow Lake Screechers, Friends of Barb & Mo, Joe McCool, Jennifer Wilson, and Brian Loney!!! Way to go!
More than 600 donations were given in honour of 39 people who braved the frigid waters of 8 different lakes in Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton.
We can't tell you how excited we are by this outpouring of support and all of the wonderful comments made by donors about the real need for this Wellness Centre.
Our job doesn't stop here though - this is only the beginning!
Thank you, Dean Michel and Jenny Bacon of www.kawarthalakeside.com for organizing this fantastic event - what a terrific success...not to mention a ton of fun! Let's do it again, shall we?!
Original Post
In 2020, local residents, Dean Michel & Jennifer Bacon, created a fun, socially distanced campaign to raise funds and awareness. More than 20 people braved the cold spring water, raising upwards of $15,000 for their community.
This year, for the 2nd Annual Jump in the Lake Challenge, help us dive into fundraising for the Wellness Centre!
On May 1, 2021, participants will jump into the frigid waters - rain (snow, hail, sleet) or shine! Are you brave enough to take the plunge? Donate or take on the challenge today!
The new Wellness Centre will provide a hub for community health in the Northern Kawartha Lakes and will include more doctors, after-hours care, physiotherapy, dental, a community meeting space, and other complementary services that will benefit both full-time and seasonal residents while preserving an important piece of our area's history by renovating and expanding the historic Train Station in Coboconk.
