building a healthy community together
Summit Wellness Centre Breaks Ground - July 6, 2023
It is because of YOU, our wonderful donors…
…that our northern communities will be healthier, more energized, and more socially connected. For this, please accept our heartfelt gratitude!

Updates & Next Steps
The foundations for the new portion of the building and the train station have been completed.
The historic train station has been moved back to its original location and onto its new foundation, and has been prepped for its restoration.
The new building construction is now sealed in from the winter weather. The concrete floors on the lower level are complete.
The new entrance from Hwy 35 to the SWC has been completed. The road to the SWC has been widened for 2-way traffic. Sanitary sewer work is mostly complete. The new parking lot has been constructed.
We continue to refine designs for interior spaces.
We continue work to secure grant commitments from the provincial and federal governments.
The community continues to raise funds for furniture and equipment through our Last Piece of the Puzzle campaign and Buy-A Brick campaign!
The Summit Wellness Centre will have a long-term impact on the health of our communities and will act as a springboard for new economic growth in our area.
“Today is an exciting day. I’m pleased to share in this milestone event as we break ground on a new and much needed wellness centre. It’s also a reminder of what can be accomplished when Kawartha Lakes comes together with a shared purpose. I’d like to thank the Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce, their Staff and Board, for their leadership in this project. And we recognize today the countless community members who have fundraised over $1 million so far through a variety of creative ways. Thank you to all who have given time and resources to make today possible.”
- Mayor Doug Elmslie, July 2023 Groundbreaking Event
